From Interview to Quotes Fast With Clickable Timestamps

Published November 3, 2026

Finding the perfect quote in an hour-long interview doesn't have to mean scrubbing back and forth. Clickable timestamps take you straight to the moment.

If you've ever interviewed someone for an article, a research project, or a podcast, you know the hard part isn't the conversation. It's going back through the recording to find the three or four lines you actually want to use, and making sure you quote them exactly.

Here's a workflow that makes that faster with Transcribe2Text.

Transcribe with timestamps on

Open your interview file (WAV, MP3, or M4A, up to 1 GB) and turn on timestamps before you transcribe. Add your interviewee's name and any organizations or terms they'll mention to the names and terms field so those come through spelled correctly.

Skim the text first, not the audio

Reading is much faster than listening. Once the transcript is ready, skim it and mark the passages that look promising. Automatic paragraphs make it easier to see where one answer ends and the next begins.

Click to verify every quote

This is where clickable timestamps earn their keep. When you find a line you want to use:

  1. Click its timestamp. Playback jumps right to that point.
  2. Listen while the text highlights, and confirm the wording matches what was said.
  3. Fix anything that's off directly in the editable segment.

There's no scrubbing through a progress bar trying to find the right minute. A quote you plan to publish should always be checked against the audio, and this keeps that check down to a few seconds.

Note the timestamp alongside the quote

When you copy a quote into your draft, jot its timestamp next to it, like (23:41). If an editor, a co-author, or the interviewee asks about it later, you can go straight back to the source.

Export what you need

When you're finished, save the transcript as a TXT file (timestamps can be included) for your records, or copy to clipboard to paste sections straight into your document.

Why it helps

The transcript gets you to the right spot, and the audio confirms it. Reading, clicking, and listening together means you spend your time choosing the best quotes instead of hunting for them.
